Internship: Log/Activity on 29-02-2012

                Same as previous days, I continued exploring on Joomla. After found the suitable template, I had started to design the template. I had searched some interesting background images, redesign them by using photoshop and finally came out a new background image. After applied the image in the webpage, I had to adjust the position of the flash menu that I had found yesterday. The previous extension that I had used was a plugin. It only can be put in article, that mean it will not appear at every page of the website. So, I had downloaded another extension of module for this menu and set its position at the top menu. The menu will appear in every page.

       

               We did not have meeting on AR today because Christine was not around, but we had to think of the ideas for our next target customer, Nestle.
             

               

Internship: Log/Activity on 28-02-2012

         Based on the requirement, the main page of the website need to be have a carousel menu. So, I had installed a few flash extensions such as 3D Carousel menu, jCarousel and horizontal pop menu. 3D Carousel menu was the most suitable plugin because it fullfill the requirement. However, unfortunately I was unable to change the setting and the displayed images unless I got the paid package. Lastly,  I decided to use the horizontal pop menu.

                 Next, I had a another meeting with other colleagues about augmented reality. Our target on today meeting was midvalley. Since we do not have so many ideas on midvalley, so our leader, Christine took out a few pieces of papers, we were drawing a big mind map on it. Based on the mind map, we came out with  three ideas: experience four seasons, take photo with virtual characters, customize and share it  on facebook, and vision music and movement.

Internship: Log/ Activity 27-02-2012

       We were going to start our project this week- to redesign the company's official website. Based on the customer requirement, we were starting to looking for suitable templates and designs. We had email to our supervisor, asked him some problems that we faced. He had provided some links of tutorial to solve our problems. This coming Friday, we will have a meeting on skype because he will be outstation this wednesday, so we are unable to meet face-to-face.

       On the other hand, my coursemates and I were having another blogs which recording our routine works besides of this log book. This blog is for the convenience of our organization top management to guide our  performances. At the end of our internship, we have to present all the works that we had done during internship. 

Internship- Log/Activity on 24-02-2012

          Same as the days before, my coursemates and I continued exploring on Joomla. I have successed to plug a video player extension and an editor on the webpage.  Video player can be used to play online video such as youtube and vimeo. We changed the original editor in Joomla by ckEditor which have more functions.

Internship- Log/Activity on 23-02-2012

         Today, we were continued explore on Joomla. We were tried to find out the way to plug extensions on Joomla such as SC JQuery, Flash and video. So far, we just successed to plugin the flash slideshow on it.

           Besides that, we were having another meeting about applying AR for mcdonalds. I have suggested an idea for the food ordering system where is to develop a application for smartphone. We can use the smartphone to scan on mcd logo, a menu will come out on 3D form. Users are free to select the meals they want, the system wil process their orders and then embed their orders in a marker. So, when they are at any mcdonalds outlet, they just have to scan the marker and the system will list out their orders. They can straight away proceed  to the payment without wasting their time on food ordering. Eventhough this idea have some drawbacks, it still can be considered.

Internship-Log/Activity on 22-02-2012

   Today, we continued to explore on Joomla. It is quite challenging to use Joomla since we never use it before. This is because a simple webpage are divided into many section, categories, modules and articles and all of them are related to each other. The first thing to do is to know what are they and how they are related to each other.

          In the afternoon, we  have a meeting with Christine, our colleague about augmented reality. We have watch a few videos about augmented reality and she showed us some example using her ipad. She required us to think about the ideas to apply this technology for mcdonald. We have to consider our ideas in different aspects including who are the  target customers, place, market value and so on. Another meeting will be held on tomorrow to discuss on these again.

Internship- Log/Activity on 21-02-2012

  First time met with my organization's supervisor, his name is called Adrian Lim, is a programmer. He had gave us a brief about the task that my friends and I are going to do. The task is to redesign the organization's website by using Joomla. We are free to use any web programming languages to develop it. Since we have less knowledge on Joomla, so he gave us a week to explore on Joomla and getting know how to use it.

           Besides that, we also had been asked to explore on augmented reality (AR). It is a new technology to pull out the graphics out from television screen or computer display and integrate them into the real-world environments. We have to think of the ideas to integrate this technology for mcdonalds. There  will be a meeting to discuss about the ideas with other colleagues.

Internship- Log/Activity on 20-02-2012

          My organization supervisor is absent. Other colleagues were gave some briefing about the company and what they do. They showed us some of the projects that have been done by previous internship students and by the company itself. We have been asked to watch the animate that produced by Backbone Entertainment company in order to understand more about the things they do. After that, my coursemates and I have been asked to think of an idea to produce an educational game and try to come out with a proposal.
